Silky

"Silky" fabrics are not made of "silk" but have a similar feel and appearance. Made of 100% polyester, silky fabrics are lightweight but woven for strength while maintaining their often shimmery, shiny qualities. Silky fabric's tight weave provides a cooler surface with a smooth texture that acts as somewhat of a repellent for hair that comes from excessive shedding -- the hair does not stick nor get caught like fabrics with a looser weave.

NOTE FOR FRONT CLAW CATS: Silky fabrics are not recommended for cats with front claws, especially if they like to scratch, because silky fabrics tend to fray if torn. Dog's nails, even heavier dogs, don't generally pose an issue because dogs tend to file sharp edges on cement or other hard ground as they walk -- dog nails are wider and smoother than needle-like cat claws.
